Bill Rex was already an industry veteran when he started Rexhall Industries. He’d started on the production line at just 19 years old. He later moved on to another manufacturer where he rose to the position of COO in just five years. After learning everything about the business that he could he opened Rexhall Industries in June of 1986 at a rented warehouse in the San Fernando Valley with just $150,000 in savings and 100 Ford Chassis. Rexhall then moved to Saugus before finding it’s permanent home in a 20,000-square-foot plant in Lancaster, California.
By 1989 Rexhall’s sales had doubled despite a 7% drop in shipments by the industry as a whole and by 1990 sales had soared so high that Rexhall gained the No. 1 spot in Business Week’s list of Hot Growth Companies and Bill landed on it’s cover.
Since then Rexhall Industries continued to grow creating several lines of models since it’s original Airex (now RexAir). From top of the line RoseAir and Aerbus to smaller units such as the immensely popular Vision and American Clipper.
In 2004 Bill Rex created and patented the T-Rex slide room. The slide was the first full body slide room and Rexhall remains the only manufacturer who can put one on each side of the motorhome creating an amazing amount of space. The slides are also the safest available, so sturdy that jacks are not strictly necessary.
Rexhall continues to be a company of innovation and family values. Now, with Bill’s son Paul as Vice-President the company continues to look to the future for it’s new models.
